At Rama's bidding Lakshmana finishes the tale of Vritra

Full sarga summary

At Rama's bidding Lakshmana finishes the tale of Vritra -- Vishnu, bound by friendship with the demon, divides himself into three parts, entering Indra, his thunderbolt and the earth, so that Indra may slay him -- the gods march out, Indra beheads Vritra with the thunderbolt, but the sin of brahmin-slaughter pursues and clings to him.
