Full sarga summary

Shatrughna asks of the trident's power, and Chyavana tells of King Mandhata, who, having conquered the earth, sought heaven, but was told by Indra he must first subdue Lavana -- challenging the demon, Mandhata was burned to ashes with the trident -- Chyavana assures Shatrughna of victory on the morrow if he catches Lavana away from his weapon.
